Anyone who was part of last year’s race remembers how much fun this event was. The Wacky Raft Race is destined to grow each year and really, how much more fun can you have in 2 1/2 feet of water? The highly coveted “Captain’s Cup” is at stake here as well as a year’s worth of bragging rights.

We encourage Teams from far & wide to enter and get working on the wildest & wackiest rafts they can dream up!

Preliminary Round will be based on time.
Top 5 times will run head to head for the Captain’s Trophy and $100

- Raft with the Most Spirit
- Most Unique Raft
- Titanic                 

Teams should dress accordingly with the theme of the raft.

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • All rafts must be signed in at Memorial Park between 8:00a.m-10:30a.m.  Rafts will be displayed for spectator enjoyment so dress your raft well! 
  • All rafts must be homemade & can be made of barrels, foam, pool noodles, two liter plastic bottles, mini kegs or anything that will float. No commercially manufactured hulls.
  • All rafts must be self-propelled with poles, oars, paddlewheels, sails or any other non-motorized combination with all crew members remaining on top of the raft.
  • Each raft must have a crew of at least 3 people (the more, the merrier), one of which is the Captain. A parent or legal guardian must accompany minors.
  • Each raft must be equipped with one 10’ length of 3/8 min. diameter towline.

 

 

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

 

  • No Glass Containers allowed!
  • All raft members must have a Coast Guard approved life jacket in their possession. These jackets must be worn at all times during the race.
  • All members shall wear sneakers or other appropriate footwear.
  • All sheet metal raw edges to be turned over and taped.
  • All protruding long bolts to be sawed off, filed and taped. No use of nails below the deck line.
  • No Diving or jumping from rafts at any time
  • All entries to be inspected for safety hazards prior to launching

 

 

 

Rafts must be taken out of the water immediately after you finish the race at Memorial Park.
