WHO WE ARE
The Hendersonville Rotary Club is comprised of men and women who either live or work in the Hendersonville area and who have a heart for service in response to the needs of our community.
Recognizing that there is strength in numbers, we join our time, talents, finances and passion under the banner of the Rotary Club to work together, through fund-raising efforts and volunteering our time with a determination to meet our community’s problems at the greatest point of
need.
Our primary focus is upon the needs of children and families. This support ranges from mentoring efforts in a local grade school all the way up to scholarships for
college, and all areas in-between.
On an international level, through our members’ personal financial commitment, we support the Rotary International’s efforts to eradicate polio off the face of the earth. We are pleased to report that, over the years, this endeavor has brought the world to the point of a 99% reduction in this terrible disease.
We are dedicated to the idea that we can make a difference in our community. Our legacy is not one of personal recognition, but that of a healthier, more compassionate community where each child may live in the hope of having the opportunity to reach his or her full potential.
WHAT WE DO
Through the year, we work on various fund-raising projects such as the Days of Wine and Roses (our annual wine tasting event at Bluegrass Country Club), the Rotary Freedom 5K Run (our summer event) and our annual Festival by the Lake. The proceeds from these events, as well as personal contributions, allow us to reach out and fund the following organizations in our
community;
Our goal is to raise at least $25,000 for the following Rotary activities this year. Here is where most of the money goes.
- Hendersonville Library
- Christmas for Kids
- Samaritan Center
- Salvus Center
- 8 college scholarships
- Relay for Life
- Compass School Partnership
- Community Child Care Center
- Children are People International
- Youth Exchange
- Wheels in Motion program and mentorship’s at Gene Brown Elementary
Unique to our club, is our annual medical mission trip to Guatemala; an ongoing outreach to impact the medical needs of some of that region’s poorest citizens.
when tragedy strikes, Rotary is there to provide emergency assistance, such as our support of the Katrina effort, the local tornado relief, and funds for Shelter Boxes for
international relief to aid issues like the tsunami disaster.
